Story of the World: Introduction

We have started school! We are doing a little Story of the World through August - just to get a bid of a head start. There is also lots of outdoorsy fun in the first few chapters, so I wanted to make sure that we covered them when the weather was nice. We did Chapter 0 last week. The first part covered the definition of history and how to find out about your past ... we spent lots of time looking through photo albums and examining our own histories. The second part of the chapter covered archeology. I set up a miniature archeology site and Seth and Maddy got to work.

 Discovering artifacts.
(Excuse the mess behind the kiddos ... we are in the middle of kitchen renos. Our old cupboards are still being "stored" on our porch / deck. Can't WAIT until it's gone!)

 Recording their information:

They both LOVED the activity. We now have two children with plans to become archeologists when they are older. Of course, Seth is hoping to combine this job with that of a paleontologist - sounds like a lot of digging!! A museum nearby is currently hosting an Egyptian exhibit. The craft this week is Jr. Archeologist - I'm hoping we can make it there some time this week!

Now on to Chapter one ....
