I am not a spontaneous person. I would like to be. Really, I would. But I am not. So, when Greg came to me at 8:30 on Friday morning, in the midst of my pancake making mess, and asked me if I wanted to go camping ... I faltered. I wanted to. But the thought was overwhelming. Yet, it was a nice idea -- so I quickly thought of an alternative. An hour later we were packed up and heading to a safari adventure - at the African Lion's Safari. I am so glad we decided to go - it was a lot of fun. We got to see many animals up close - from elephants taking a bath, to giraffes peeking in the windows of our bus, to monkeys climbing on vans and zebras running across grassy fields to parrots talking. I was so busy enjoying myself and my kids that I hardly took any pictures. Strange for me!
There is a super water park at the African Lion's Safari. I almost didn't pack bathing suits as my children are not generally get-wet kind of kids. But they took one look at the water park and begged to go in. Seth even went down some water slides - and enjoyed it! Not typical for him!
Even Kiera got to join in on the water park fun. They had these great jolly jumpers in the water - kept her occupied and happy (although not sleeping, like she was supposed to be doing at that hour!)
Seth, Maddy and I enjoyed a ride on an elephant! Not something I thought I'd ever do in this lifetime :) Seth had fun - despite the look of utter concentration on his face.
When asked about their favourite part, both kids mentioned the water park and the obstacle course (which they did over and over and over ... ). We also took the train, went on a boat tour, went to an elephant show and a birds of paradise show. It was a beautiful day and we filled it with lots of fun memories!
